Block Fit
Drag blocks onto the grid and clear full rows and columns.
How to play Block Fit
Block Fit is a calm puzzle with an arcade score. You get three blocks at a time and place them on a square grid. When a row or a column is completely filled, it clears and you score points. There is no timer, so you can think as long as you like.
Goal
Score as many points as you can before the grid fills up. Your best score for each grid size is saved in this browser.
Placing blocks
- Three blocks wait in the tray under the grid. Drag one onto the grid. A see-through ghost shows exactly where it will land.
- Let go to drop it. A block must fit on empty squares. Blocks cannot be turned, so use each shape as it is.
- You may use the three blocks in any order. When all three are placed, you get three new ones.
- On a keyboard, press 1, 2 or 3 to pick a block, move it with the arrow keys and press Enter or Space to drop it. You can also tap a block, then tap the grid.
Scoring and combos
Every square you place is worth 1 point. A full row or column clears and scores a bonus. Clearing several lines with one block scores much more: 1 line gives 10, 2 lines give 30, 3 lines give 60, and so on. While you drag, the lines that will clear glow in the colour of your block.
Clear lines again within your next three placements and you build a combo. The line bonus is multiplied by the combo number, so a ×4 combo is worth four times as much. Empty the whole grid for a big Perfect bonus.
End of the game
The game ends when none of the blocks in your tray fits anywhere on the grid. Blocks that cannot fit are shown greyed out. You can undo your last move once if you see a mistake. Pick 8 × 8 for a tight, tricky grid or 10 × 10 for longer games. Like falling blocks better? Try Block Puzzle.
Strategy tips
- Keep space for big shapes. The 3×3 square and the long 5-block bar need room. Always keep at least one open 3×3 area.
- Fill edges and corners first. Pieces fit more easily along the walls, and the middle stays flexible.
- Avoid single holes. A lone empty square surrounded by blocks can only be filled by the 1-block piece, which is rare.
- Look at all three blocks first. Plan where each one goes before you drop the first. A bad order can leave the last block with no room.
- Keep the combo alive. Set up two or three almost-full lines, then clear them one after another for a growing multiplier.
Block Fit FAQ
Can I rotate the blocks?
No. Every block must be placed the way it is shown. That is what makes the game a puzzle: you have to find a spot that fits each shape.
How does the combo work?
Each time a placement clears at least one line, your combo goes up by one and multiplies the line bonus. If three placements in a row clear nothing, the combo resets.
What is the difference between 8 × 8 and 10 × 10?
The 8 × 8 grid fills up fast, so every move matters. The 10 × 10 grid gives you more room and longer games. Each size keeps its own best score.
Is my game saved?
Yes. Your game is saved in this browser after every move, so you can close the page and continue later. Your best scores are saved too.
