Fruit Merge

Drop fruits into the jar and merge two of a kind into a bigger one.

How to play Fruit Merge

Fruit Merge is a relaxed physics puzzle. You drop small fruits into a glass jar. They fall, roll and stack up like real round objects. When two fruits of the same kind touch, they squeeze together into one bigger fruit. Keep merging to grow the biggest fruit of all, the watermelon.

Goal

Score as many points as you can before the jar overflows. Each merge scores points, and bigger fruits are worth more. Your best score is saved in this browser.

Dropping fruit

  1. The fruit in the claw at the top is the one you will drop. The small window on the right shows the next fruit.
  2. Move the claw with the mouse, by dragging your finger, with the arrow keys or with the on-screen buttons. The dotted line shows where the fruit will fall.
  3. Click, lift your finger, or press Space, Enter or the Down arrow to drop it. After each drop there is a short wait before the next fruit is ready.
  4. Only the five smallest fruits are ever dropped. Every bigger fruit must be made by merging.

The fruit chain

From small to large: cherry, strawberry, grape, lemon, orange, apple, pear, peach, pineapple, melon and watermelon. The chain is shown under the jar. Two cherries make a strawberry, two strawberries make a grape, and so on. Two watermelons pop and vanish for a big bonus. One merge can start a chain reaction when the new fruit lands on its twin.

End of the game

A dashed line runs across the top of the jar. If any fruit stays above that line for more than two seconds, the game is over. The line flashes red as a warning, so you still have a moment to merge your way out. Press P or use the Pause button to take a break. If you enjoy merge games, also try 2048.

Strategy tips

  • Keep big fruits in a corner. Build your largest fruits along one side so they do not split the jar into small pockets.
  • Order the row by size. Try to line fruits up from big to small, like a staircase. Each new merge then lands next to its partner.
  • Watch the next fruit. Plan your drop with the next one in mind. Sometimes it is better to drop a fruit in a safe spot and save the good spot for the next one.
  • Do not bury small fruits. A cherry trapped under a big fruit is hard to reach. Drop small fruits on top of matching ones right away.
  • Use the bounce. A fresh merge pushes its neighbours. Merging near the top of the pile can roll fruits into better places.

Fruit Merge FAQ

When does the game end?

When any fruit stays above the dashed line near the top of the jar for more than two seconds. A fruit that only passes over the line while falling or bouncing does not count.

Which fruits can I drop?

Only the five smallest: cherry, strawberry, grape, lemon and orange. Apple, pear, peach, pineapple, melon and watermelon can only be made by merging.

What happens when two watermelons touch?

They pop and disappear, and you earn a bonus of 100 points. It is the hardest goal in the game and frees a lot of room.

Is my game saved?

Yes. The jar, your score and the next fruits are saved in this browser, so you can close the page and continue later. Your best score is kept too.
