Block Puzzle
Turn and drop the falling blocks. Fill a row to clear it.
How to play Block Puzzle
Block Puzzle is a falling blocks game for one player. Pieces made of four squares fall one by one into a field that is 10 squares wide and 20 squares tall. You move and turn each piece before it lands. There are seven piece shapes, and you get each of them once in every group of seven.
Goal
Fill complete rows across the field. A full row clears and everything above it moves down. Clear as many rows as you can and get the highest score.
Controls
- Left and Right arrows move the piece. Hold a key to slide it fast.
- Up arrow or X turns the piece clockwise. Z turns it the other way. Next to a wall, the piece gets a small push so it can still turn.
- Down arrow drops the piece faster. Space drops it straight to the bottom.
- C or Shift puts the piece on hold and takes the held one. You can hold once per piece.
- P pauses the game. On a phone, use the buttons under the field, or drag the piece, tap to turn it and flick down to drop it.
The outline at the bottom shows where the piece will land. The box on the right shows the next three pieces.
Score and levels
Clearing 1, 2, 3 or 4 rows at once gives 100, 300, 500 or 800 points, times your level. Dropping pieces fast adds a few points too. Every 10 rows you go up a level and pieces fall faster. Choose a higher starting level for a faster game.
End of the game
The game ends when a new piece has no room to appear at the top. Your best score is saved in this browser, and a game in progress is saved too. Like quick puzzles? Try 2048 or Snake.
Strategy tips
- Keep the stack flat. A low, even surface gives every piece a good place to land.
- Leave one column open. Build up the other nine columns and keep one edge empty. Then a long straight piece can clear four rows at once for the biggest score.
- Look at the next pieces. Plan two or three pieces ahead so you are never caught without a spot.
- Use hold wisely. Keep a long straight piece on hold for when your gap is ready, or swap out a piece that does not fit.
- Avoid holes. A covered gap is hard to clear. If you leave one, clear the rows above it first.
Block Puzzle FAQ
Why did the piece move sideways when I turned it?
When a piece turns next to a wall or another block, the game tries a few nearby spots so the turn can still work. This is called a wall kick, and it lets you fit pieces into tight gaps.
How does hold work?
Press C or Shift (or the hold button) to put the current piece aside. The next time you hold, you get it back. You can hold only once until the piece lands.
Can I play on a phone?
Yes. Use the buttons under the field, or touch the field directly: drag left or right to move, tap to turn, drag down to drop faster and flick down to drop at once.
Is my game saved?
Yes. Your game is saved after each piece lands, and your best score is kept in this browser. When you come back, the game waits in pause until you start it.
