How to play Bubble Shooter

Bubble Shooter is a colourful arcade puzzle for one player. The top of the field is packed with bubbles. A launcher at the bottom shoots one bubble at a time. Make groups of the same colour to pop them before the bubbles reach the red line.

Goal

Clear every bubble to finish the level and score as many points as you can. Each new level starts with more rows.

Shooting

  1. Aim by moving the mouse over the field, by dragging your finger, or with the left and right arrow keys. A dotted guide line shows the path, including bounces off the side walls, and a ghost bubble shows where your shot will stick.
  2. Shoot with a click, by lifting your finger, or with Space or the up arrow.
  3. The bubble sticks to the first bubble it touches, or to the ceiling.
  4. If it joins a group of three or more bubbles of the same colour, the whole group pops.
  5. Bubbles that are no longer connected to the ceiling fall and give extra points.

Next bubble and swap

The small bubble next to the launcher is the next one. Click or tap it, press X or the down arrow, or use the swap button to swap the two. New bubbles only come in colours that are still on the field.

The ceiling

The dots on the left count down your shots. When they run out, the ceiling moves down one row and pushes all the bubbles with it. The field shakes just before it happens.

Score and end of the game

A popped bubble is worth 10 points, a falling bubble 20, and a big fall of five or more gives a bonus. Clearing the field gives a level bonus. The game ends when a bubble goes past the red line. Your best score for each difficulty is saved in this browser. Like matching colours? Try Jewel Match.

Strategy tips

  • Drop, do not just pop. Aim for the bubbles that hold up a big cluster. Popping them makes everything below fall for double points.
  • Use the walls. A bank shot can reach gaps you cannot hit directly. Follow the guide line.
  • Plan with the next bubble. If the current colour has no good spot, swap it and keep it for later.
  • Watch the shot counter. Before the ceiling drops, clear the lowest bubbles first so you keep space above the red line.
  • Keep colours together. If you must place a bubble without popping, put it next to the same colour to build a future group.

Bubble Shooter FAQ

Is this like Puzzle Bobble?

Yes, it is a bubble shooter in the same spirit as Puzzle Bobble and Bust-a-Move, with its own art, levels and difficulty settings.

Why did some bubbles fall without being popped?

Bubbles must stay connected to the ceiling. When you pop the bubbles that hold a cluster up, the rest of the cluster drops and scores 20 points each.

What changes with the difficulty?

Easy uses four colours and the ceiling drops every 10 shots. Medium uses five colours and Hard uses six, with the ceiling dropping more often.

Is my game saved?

Yes. The field, score and level are saved after every shot, so you can close the page and keep playing later. Your best score is kept too.
