How to play Tile Match

Tile Match is a calm puzzle about stacks of tiles. Each tile shows a sweet treat, like an apple, a donut or a lollipop. The tiles are piled in layers, and every treat appears in sets of three. Your job is to clear the whole pile.

Goal

Move every tile off the board. Collect three tiles with the same picture in the tray and they vanish. Clear all the tiles to finish the level and unlock the next one.

Turn by turn

  1. Tap a bright tile. Only tiles with nothing on top of them can be picked. Darker tiles are covered.
  2. The tile slides into the tray at the bottom. Tiles with the same picture line up next to each other.
  3. When three of a kind meet in the tray, they disappear and free up space.
  4. Picking a tile can uncover the tiles under it, so look at what lies below before you choose.

Boosters

Undo sends the last tile from the tray back to its place. Shuffle mixes the pictures of the tiles still on the board. You get 3 undos and 2 shuffles in every level. Every level can be solved, and a shuffle keeps it solvable.

End of the level

The tray has seven slots. If it fills up without making a set of three, the level is lost and you can try it again. Each level is the same every time you play it, and later levels have more layers and more kinds of tiles. Use the Level menu to replay any level you have reached. Want more matching? Try Animal Link or Mahjong Solitaire.

Strategy tips

  • Count before you tap. Only pick a picture when you can see where its other two copies are, or at least one more.
  • Keep the tray light. Try to have no more than two different pictures waiting in the tray. Three or four leftovers get dangerous fast.
  • Dig into tall stacks. Tiles on high layers hide many others. Clearing them early gives you more choices later.
  • Peek at covered tiles. Dark tiles still show their picture. Plan which tiles you will free next.
  • Save your boosters. Undo is best right after a mistake. Keep a shuffle for the end, when few tiles are free.

Tile Match FAQ

Is every level possible to clear?

Yes. Each level is built from a real way to clear it, so there is always a solution. After a shuffle the board is solvable again from where you are.

Why can I not pick some tiles?

A tile can only be picked when no other tile lies on top of it, even partly. Covered tiles look darker. Clear the tiles above them first.

Is this like Tile Master or other triple-tile games?

It is the same kind of triple matching puzzle, with its own tiles and levels. Pick tiles, match three in the tray and keep the tray from filling up.

Is my progress saved?

Yes. The game in progress and the highest level you have reached are saved in this browser. Use the Level menu to replay earlier levels.
