Color Sequence
Watch the lights, then repeat the pattern. It grows every round.
How to play Color Sequence
Color Sequence is a memory game of lights and sounds. The disc has four pads: a green triangle, a red circle, a yellow square and a blue diamond. Each pad has its own shape and its own musical note, so you can follow the pattern by colour, by shape or by ear.
Goal
Repeat the longest pattern you can. Your score is the number of steps in the last pattern you copied without a mistake. Your best score for each speed and mode is saved in this browser.
Turn by turn
- Press Start in the middle of the disc, or press Space.
- Watch and listen. The game lights up one pad.
- Press the same pad. Click or tap it, or use the keys 1 2 3 4 (also Q W A S, which sit on the keyboard like the pads on the disc).
- If you are right, the game plays the whole pattern again with one new step at the end. Copy it all, from the first step.
- Each round the pattern is one step longer and plays a little faster.
Mistakes and strict mode
In normal mode you have three lives. If you press a wrong pad you lose a life, and the game shows the same pattern again so you can try once more. In strict mode there are no second chances: one wrong press ends the game. Strict mode keeps its own best score.
Speed and pausing
Pick Easy, Medium or Hard to set how fast the lights play. There is no time limit while you answer, so take a breath if you need it. Press P or the Pause button to stop; the pattern replays from the start when you go on. The game also pauses if you switch tabs.
End of the game
The game ends when you run out of lives. You see your score and your best score. For more memory fun, try Memory Match.
Strategy tips
- Use more than one sense. Say the colours or shapes in your head and listen to the notes. A tune is easier to remember than a list.
- Chunk the pattern. Group the steps into short bits of three or four, like a phone number: "green-red-red, blue-yellow".
- Only learn the new step. Each round adds just one step at the end. You already know the rest, so focus on the last light.
- Do not rush. There is no timer for your answer. A calm, steady rhythm leads to fewer slips than racing.
- Practise on Easy, then go strict. Slow playback helps you build the habit. Strict mode is the true test once you can reach 15 steps.
Color Sequence FAQ
How is the score counted?
Your score is the length of the longest pattern you repeated correctly. If you copy a pattern of 12 steps, your score is 12.
What is strict mode?
In strict mode you have one life, so any wrong press ends the game. In normal mode you have three lives and the pattern replays after a mistake.
Can I play with the sound off or if I am colour-blind?
Yes. Every pad has its own shape as well as its own colour and note, and its position on the disc never changes. You can turn the sound off with the speaker button at the top.
Does the game get faster?
Yes. Each round the lights play a little faster, down to a minimum speed. The speed setting changes how fast it starts.
